I tested it out on a trail in rural Italy on a hairpin turn in the trail and it nailed it perfectly. I would just download maps from where we expected to be from WIFI in my hotel and never used cell data.

I downloaded the new version after 6 years of saving places to my lists on the old app and even though it says it would save all my old lists and places it didn’t. I lost 6 years of places and saves. Sooooo mad.
Great for travel

I use these maps on every trip. It works great without data. I didn’t come home to any extra charges. It has saved me from getting lost numerous times even in Venice. Since you can make a list of the places you want to go you can be sure that you don’t miss anything. 30+ countries and counting.
Great in Scandinavia

We were in Scandinavia for 3 weeks and time and again this offline map site was the one that provided accuracy and dependability. I have 2 other offline map apps on my phone but City Maps was best.
Not working offline in Venice

I have used this app before in Athens and it was super helpful with the offline functionality. However, I can’t get the offline version to work well in Venice.
Off line a key feature for me

The downloadable maps really made a difference for a family trip to Portugal and Spain this summer. Coming from the states and not having an unlimited amount of data called for an off-line resource, to which this hit the spot. Never got lost, and when we were connected to Wi-Fi simply clicking on a city, town, or point of interest brought up some basic facts of the area. Thanks.
Not good for sharing with a family member

I paid for this with the understanding I could share the app with my husband while we are traveling. Nope. No obvious way to do that and no support to find out how. Fail.
