Chuck’s design and inbox management is promising, but its limited scope leaves it feeling like a waste of space on my device unless I’m planning to receive 50,000 emails a day. The “inbox management” focus is far too narrow to be of great use to me and I’m not personally interested in switching back and forth between multiple email apps when I can easily manage my inbox in a more full-featured email app. Currently, Chuck lacks the ability to access other email folders aside from the inbox (e.g. Archive, Sent, Trash, Junk, etc.). You can move emails to those folders, but if you need to recall any of them in order to draft a reply, you have to close out of Chuck and open a true email app. I don’t understand the point of that. The developers state they are hoping to implement expanded folder integration this month. However, they continue to state it is not something they believe to be important to their user base. I’m sorry, but not even being able to even access spam/junk to see if a message went there by mistake is a very poor experience. After receiving developer feedback to my initial review, I feel they are a bit too overzealous about the ability of their app to provide a superior experience over other email applications. Claiming to be the best at something simply because you’ve stripped away the ability to do everything else is misguided. “Processing” emails includes being able to recall prior messages for reference. For example, say I’m using Chuck for managing business emails and want to reference an older email with relevant information to the new email I’m composing. Unless that email is in my inbox, I have to open a separate email app to access it. At that point, I might as well just respond to the email in that other application as well. This renders Chuck largely unnecessary (due to it being a hindrance rather than a help) in a large number of common use-cases. It becomes bloatware on my device and is worthy of deletion. The developer claims to be “the best” at inbox management, but I don’t see anything fundamentally different from other email applications. Grouping by sender, subject, and time is nothing new. Email has been around for decades, and you’re going to need to do a lot more that you currently are to truly create an experience worthy of being called “the best.”

AMAZING!!.......When it works :-(

I had been **cough** neglecting my mailbox for a VERY long time. EPIPHANY!!!, I am going to get it under control. All 400,000 (YOU READ IT CORRECTLY) of them. Enter CHUCK. Amazing concept and makes mailbox wrangling a breeze....but only 5 minutes at a time. App freezes non-stop and I repeatedly have to restart and get back at it. Super frustrating but overall still the quickest way to dump a bunch of trash mail at once. Also, I saw a previous reply from CHUCK Team saying pretty much all the reported issues “must” be a result of poor connection on the user end. In my case, I can assure that I have a very solid connection at home and the same issue occurs. Definitely a five star app IF/WHEN they are able to update and bug fix.

Excellent

Extremely slow

3 stars for the simple fact that regardless of how slow the app is working, it’s still deleting emails faster than I ever could. But, that doesn’t mean there isn’t work to be done. I’m in the process of clearing out my inbox of about 70,000 emails accumulated over the past 10+ years. I’m having trouble figuring out that the heck the app is doing most of the time, because it’s come and go when it comes to syncing. In settings, the “pending actions” only knocks about 1 off the queue every 12 hours. Meanwhile if there’s anything in that queue, no more emails are being loaded for me to delete. It also seems like it doesn’t work in the background, because I’ll put my phone down for an hour or two and come back to check on the progress and the pending actions and synced emails are exactly where they were before. That being said, I’ve also tried turning off my screen shut off so that the app is open and showing during a nap or something, and that hasn’t made a difference either. I’ll add that I have had the same experience regardless of network connection, have tried 3 different WiFi networks and regular cell service, no diff. I can’t find a rhyme or reason. Every now and then I open it and I’m surprised to see the pending queue was taken care of and emails are syncing again. But that has been just a couple times a day.

Worked great until it didn’t.

I reinstalled it so many times, trying to correct the issue, I started to feel like I was an unpaid employee. Asked for refund and got nothing but a run around. I am not happy. ??

Where have you been all my adult life??

This is literally the email app I’ve needed for years. From visual layout to the ability to bulk unsubscribe/archive/delete, it takes the overwhelm out of email. The ability to undo actions is nice too. So glad to have found Chuck, total godsend.
