I have been waiting for Duolingo to come up with Chinese for English speakers. This app beat them to the market. I love it. The only thing I would like is for the characters to be a bit larger. I think there is enough space on the screen layout to do this. We have to "see" the characters many times before and after we learn to write them. As of now they are too small. Otherwise, great job.

After completing 1 basic lesson, I conclude that learning Chineese is very easy. I recommend this app to anyone who would like to start learning to read, write and speak Chineese language. Congrat the apps developer team.

This app covers listening, reading both pinyin and hanzi, writing hanzi, and typing pinyin. I like the style and the format. I'm in China now and find this extremely helpful for learning while riding on the bus or during the long lunch breaks here. Highly recommended!

I have studied many languages, mostly European languages, but also Japanese and Arabic. I have used many different language learning programs: online, college classes, CDs, books etc. This app is the first method that I have ever used that successfully taught me to actually speak and use Chinese language. I feel like I am learning the tones, proper sentence structure and a lot more than basic words and phrases. I love the way each section builds on what you learned in the last section. Everyday I go through all of the lessons I've already been through before I go to the next. And it is working like a charm. I've even eaves dropped on a couple of Chinese speaking ladies on the bus and found out what their seat number was! I just wish that there was more hanzi practice. Not enough of the words learned are available for stroke order practice. But good work with this app!

I'm in Chinese in college and this is a great app but if you really want to learn Chinese they need to have you write it more and talk about grammar a bit. Even though there isant much grammar to Chinese they still should talk about it. If you want to lean Chinese I would write the character and try to make stories to the elements in the characters. If you don't it just looks like a bunch of random strokes. And memory won't be as solid. But very good overall :)

Great supplement to formal lessons. Teaches useful words right away. I say it's better than Rosetta Stone in that I've wanted to order dumplings in China, but never had to ask how to swim or sandwiches;) Can't believe you get all this for free!
