"No thanks" should be an option when app demands ratings

irrealischomp

Every few minutes, this app displays a message saying "please rate...". Since I haven't had the chance to use Chessimo long enough to form a good impression, my only impression so far is based on the persistence of this message, on the fact that there isn't a "no thanks" button (only "rate now" and "rate later"), and on the frequency of this message (every few minutes). I find this really annoying. So, to the developers of this app: if you want my rating so badly and so soon after installing the app, the only honest review I can give is negative. If I'm lucky, the annoying messages will go away now that I've rated and reviewed this app. If I later find that I really like Chessimo, I'll update this review and rating accordingly.

The quintessential Chess training app!

Jeremy Nathan Hart

This is by far the best application I have ever found that will fundamentally increase one's knowledge of chess exponentially. Anyone can learn the rules of chess but it takes lots of training to learn chess logic. From the very first lesson on tactics, this application teaches you to think like a high functioning tactical chess-player. If you're ready to take your chess game to the next level, this is the application for you.

Nagged to rate app.

Random-Encounter

One star for the poor user experience. Do not interrupt with demands for ratings. Chess requires concentration. Your app is full of interruptions.

Not so Crafty and crashes

westkeyz

The 'play against "Crafty" feature is broken, crashes all the time. And it is a very weak, blundering player. With all the great chess apps out there, this should really play stronger. This is on latest ipad Air, latest Os

So far so good

Best chess training tool I've found so far!

A Thoughtful Assessment

wesleyheath

Overall this is a very good chess training app. The amount of material (once paid for) is quite large and generally very impressive. A few specific items to note: - Most significantly, you currently cannot sync this app between devices. To access the full app on more than one device requires that you purchase all the material more than once. The developer told me via email about a year ago that they were working on this feature, but the developer seems to have gone silent since. This app has not been updated in some time (as of January 2015). - On a tablet, this app only works in landscape mode. On a phone, it works only in portrait. This is a bit annoying. - The ability to stop a puzzle and actually play the position against "Krafty" (the engine) is an excellent feature, but crashes all too often. - Especially as regards tactics, this app focuses on pattern recognition and so the amount of material here is very large. I view this as positive - good value for the money. (To unlock everything is, as I recall, around 10 USD.) Overall still an excellent app. By far the biggest issue is the device syncing - if they could fix that, this would be an easy five-star rating.

Great chess app.

Early Review

I'm just starting to use the app and don't want to be prompted for a rating over and over and over. I like the interface, concept and functionality I've seen so far... Will give a more detailed review later. This is just a preliminary rating!!
