I really like this a lot better than the previous version! Being able to set a couple metrics to show on the hourly graph, as well as being able to set a couple for the day, is a really nice addition.

Great weather app but politics

Let's start by saying this is a great weather app. The AR feature is especially cool, but it's accurate and sassy. But you lose a star by throwing your politics into this app. I've had it for about 6 months, and today was like the fifth time I've opened the app to some subtle snarky pull at the President. Get enough of that on social media and TV, don't need it on my freaking weather app.

All the “best Apple Watch app” research I did always turned up Carrot weather. I was excited when I downloaded it, and the AW app impressed me so I immediately subscribed at the highest tier. Unfortunately the UI is the only area that remained positive. The accuracy of the wunderground subscription aside, I have major issues with the app on my series 3 Apple Watch. The weather never updates by itself. I must manually tap the complication on my watch face to launch the full app for the weather to update. Synchronizing my personal preferences is spotty at best. Every time I want to change something it doesn’t work. The app freezes constantly and I have to restart my AW more than I think I should be required to. The final straw for me was just now where the entire app was stuck on a weather report from yesterday and even a restart plus a reinstall did not fix the issue. I have no idea what’s going on but this is not the app I read about. At least the app on my phone is working fine, so my subscription is not entirely wasted. However I got this for my AW so I am still not happy.

No 7-day forecast graph

I misinterpreted the screenshots, because I was thought at least one of them showed a graph of relative temps and conditions for the week. The only graphs are hourly, and only 4 days are shown with a conditions icon and high and low for that day, no graph. It’s useful to know if there’s going to be a 25 degree swing tomorrow or at the weekend, for example, and a graph is more effective than a numerical value in conveying this. Carrot doesn’t have it for the base price, and I couldn’t find any documentation showing it’s available if I subscribe. Disappointing.

Update: I love the Apple Watch app. Apple should ask themselves...if Carrot can talk to me on my Series 2, why can't Siri? Good question! Carrot can't be beat, although you can poke her ocular sensor (but, that's a whole other story). Who is Carrot? She's a sarcastic little robot who delivers an accurate weather forecast with plenty of detail that's delivered in a snarky (or, not...you decide) attitude. If you want to start your day with a smile, I highly recommend Carrot.

I have used this app for almost a year and a half and I have to admit, you can email the developer and usually within a day you have an email from him/her letting you know how or if they can fix the problem.
