Crashes forces update then won’t let you sign in

Card star forces you to update because it crashes then you can’t sign in afterward. Repeated attempts to reset password result in ZERO emails and now all my card data is presently held hostage.

I love this app when it works but it seems that the tech support is severely lacking. Many of the reviews mention that when IOS 12 was released, CardStar immediately crashed. Now that IOS 13 is released it’s deja vu all over again. The app crashes and there’s no tech support. You can send them an email to their “tech support” link, but that will get returned. I don’t have any sensitive data stored with them so I’m not worried about that, but it’s a pain to recreate your cards in another app but I have done just that. UPDATE: they updated the app for IOS 13 and everything works again. Thanks

App Crashing on Startup After iOS 13 Update

**UPDATED REVIEW** 10/15/19: Happy to report that I received a response from the developer on 10/13 notifying me that an updated version was deployed to fix the iOS 13 crashes. I’m now able to access the app, and my cards, once again. Bumping my rating to 5-stars as I said I would. 10/4/19: I reached out to the support folks regarding the app crashing on startup after I updated to iOS 13. I sent that email back on 9/26 and have yet to hear back. I understand these issues happen and don’t get resolved at the drop of a hat, but a lack of response to a support ticket is unacceptable. In its current state, the app is unusable, hence my 1-star review. I’d imagine I’m not the only user experiencing this. Once this gets resolved, I’ll update my review and bump this to 5-stars. I’ve been using CardStar for several years and have literally never had an issue. I hope that I don’t need to ditch it now and find something comparable.

Though it’s still essentially the same dated app it was years ago, I’m very happy it’s back and that my cards are all there. Appreciate the response from the developer that it’d been fixed as well. That said, that it instacrashed day one on iOS 13 and has apparently had trouble during past iOS updates has me using an alternative now. Great app when it was released and I enjoyed using and recommending it for years. But this issue scared me away, I’m afraid. Original one-star review: Looks likes support has finally died. Was in store, tried to open app for the first time since the iOS 13 update, saw opening screen, and CRASH. Tried again, HARD CRASH. It’s dead, Jim. Goodbye cards. Sheesh.

The only reason why I didn’t give this app 5 stars is because the store logos have to be reloaded every week. I often get to the store to find I have not reloaded the logos and the store name is so small that as a person who wears reading glasses it’s nearly impossible to see. Not sure why this has never been changed but it seems a bit of a no brainer.

The app scans bar codes like a champ, and gives me the opportunity to shed thickness from my wallet. The problems I have with it are two: 1) Not all scanners can read the iPhone screen. I have had best success with library flat scanners, and no success with scanning wands. This is not the dev’s fault, but it does mean I can’t abandon the scanned cards in a drawer at home. YMMV 2) I can’t customize the cards. Two out of the seven have shopping cart icons—even the library. This makes the “Recent Cards” section useless since all I see are shopping carts. I don’t expect you to have a massive database of ALL THE LOGOS, but let me take a photograph of the card for the card entry. It’s an iPhone! At the very least, let me pick from other icons. Lastly, I can’t figure out how to add a location to a card, so “Nearby Cards” has never popped up on my front screen as depicted in your screenshots. Otherwise, I have relied on this app for years to log into my libraries faithfully. I’ve had mixed results with grocery stores. Regardless, I still find the app helpful.
