Great calendar

willinet

Needs Apple Watch integration for another star. Fantastical had a better look but I like being able to print a monthly calendar from BusyCal so I kept both for years. BusyCal was always my go to app on the Mac anyway. No more fantastic in Fantastical. I’m all in for BusyCal now. Hoping for at least a daily cal on my Apple Watch.?

Functionally unusable with iOS 13 reminders app

jwadamson

Used to be great, but since upgrading my reminders to Catalina/iOS 13, it doesn’t sync reliably. I open the app and get an incomplete list of my open reminders. Refreshing or hitting reminders account sync doesn’t help, sometimes it makes all the items disappear for a few hours despite syncing again or relaunching app. I have had to move to a competitor app. The other app took a few seconds to check off items when I first switched, but it never had the data consistency issues; it displays my reminders app items reliably and without fail and has since addressed the performance problem. I look forward to the day iOS BusyCal fixes their reminders app integration so that I can return. P.S. it is still a great calendar app, but that is a secondary use case for me.

Very Slow Development, Behind the Competition

? Cons: - No today widget. - No Apple Watch app. - No Siri Shortcuts. - Can’t add a new calendar from within BusyCal have to back to native iOS calendar app, even after BusyCal’s integration with our iCloud account is suppose to be deeper and more substantial after needing an Apple ID App specific password to even add your iCloud account. - Can’t tap and hold on the screen to add an event have to tap the plus sign. - Can’t tap and hold on an event for duration sliders to appear so I can change the time, like native iOS Calendar, I have to go into menus. - Unnecessary separate menus, multiple taps and tabs for changing the date and time. Just copy the Native iOS Calendar app. This is annoying. - Drag and drop is slow and stutters. - Have to subscribe to us holiday calendar manually using a link from their website on all three devices iPhone, iPad and Mac even though you add your iCloud account which has a us calendar subscription. Pros: - Reminders integration (I don’t use this is use OmniFocus) - Time to leave notifications - Vertical week view displaying three days without needing to turn the iPhone into landscape. - Expandable day tabs in month view. Conclusion... This company has been around for a decade plus, I think it is inexcusable to be this far behind. A today widget has been requested for years. I want to be able to handle everything via BusyCal. I’m very Disappointed. ?☹️?

Was perfect... now missing custom repeat :(

kjust87

This app WAS prefect for me because it beautifully incorporates the to-do list with the calendar AND carries incomplete to-do’s forward! Awesome! However, at some point ‘custom repeat’ fell off the repeat options list. This makes it very difficult to schedule repeating weekday vs weekend events. I would have to put something in 5 times with a weekly repeat to get it to show up M-F but not Sa & Su. If this feature could be restored, it would immediately be a 5 star app in my opinion.

Great calendar, needs small upgrades

gdiehl86

This calendar excels at: - iOS and google calendar integration, events are always synced - iOS reminders integration, being able to pick specific lists to show and others to hide is something that sets this app apart from others - the ability to choose how many weeks are displayed - the clear difference between all day and times events - a beautiful and clear monthly calendar A few upgrades that I’d like to request: - the ability to add tasks from the calendar view to lists that are hidden, but without causing that list to unhide... it’s nice to work from one screen without settings being effected - improved event repetition, several other apps have already adopted options that are more intricate and introduced them in a more user-friendly format, ie: repeat on these specific days every week, or this specific day of the month (I’m thinking about Readdle’s Calendars 5, which is the one thing they really exec at)

Fundamental ux problems

bythebay10

1. You can’t tap on an empty space in the grid to create a new event. Instead you have to click the + button and then select the day and time again manually even if you just found a good spot. Every other calendar app in the world has adopted this tap to schedule functionality. 2. Lots of tiny bell ? icons clutter up every calendar event block. No one needs to see an icon indicating they will be reminded shortly about this event... 3. You go through a long painstaking setup process of linking your accounts on the desktop app, and then have to redo it completely on mobile. Desktop and mobile apps are completely separate. Overall could be promising but not much better than iOS/macOS default calendar app.

Requesting a refund

I download the app less than a week ago. It’s not for me. No date widget is a big deal breaker for me.

No custom end user settings

Cheryl's iPhone 6 Plus

8/8/20 Can’t get it to sync all my todo. Only the default. I have many category’s such as medications, Senior center events, shopping, bills, zoom, etc Older request: I want to have an event repeat every month on the 2nd Wednesday.i paid $5 for this app and at this time it cannot set custom events in the ToDos. I sure hope you’ll add this. I stopped using Fantastical b/c it was to slow. I want this app to add custom features as I mentioned above. It would be greatly appreciated.

Can’t sync google calendar

imommy14

I just bought this app and I am trying to sync my google calendar to BusyCal and it isn’t doing anything. I don’t want to have to retype everything in again. Could use some help. I followed all the directions and still not working. So frustrating.

Totally Worth Every Penny

It is the best calendar + to-do app I have used so far, and I have used many over the years. I love that it is not a subscription model. I was more people to buy it, so they could be in business to continue to upgrade this app to make it even better.
