My Subscription Line Was Deleted without warning!

Alonzo Chadwick

I have a paid subscription for 4.99 that auto renews. However, my burner along with all of my texts were deleted. Now it forced me to buy additional credits and purchase a brand new burner with those credits. And there’s no other option accept to upgrade to the 3 lines for $14.99. I lost VERY important business correspondence that I was using as documentation for something legal. Now it’s all gone! HORRIBLE experience!

Texts are slow, needs iMessage support

Brijam

Premium subscriber for a long time. Texts often take a long time to arrive in both directions. iMessage support would be ideal.

UPDATE: - After many months of subscription and too many past and ongoing app issues, I cancelled my subscription. I will no longer be using Burner. - Dev keeps saying "issues are fixed and gone." But they're not. They aren't truly taking responsibility; it's just lip service and PR. If they really cared, they would stop saying to every complaint that "the issues were only 1 weekend and all the problems are gone." LISTEN TO YOUR CLIENTS. This really rubbed me the wrong way. After developer response, app continued to have more problems. (1) NO APP BADGE NOTIFICATIONS. - I would see Banner notifications, but App Badge still would not display notification count. (2) TEXTS NOT DISPLAYING - After seeing a Banner notification and going to app, new text wouldn't be there. - I have to click into the message chain, wait for messages to reload, then hope it would show up. Sometimes, this takes 3x. - HORRIBLE FOR LIVE CONVOS AND BUSINESS. These bugs have persisted since the app started having issues weeks ago. (3) LIVE CONVO/CHAT NOT DISPLAYING - Whenever I am in a convo, app will NOT DISPLAY responses received, unless I exit and re-enter the convo. In a business chat, I have to keep doing this over and over again. Pulling teeth!! - Since you have NO IDEA that the other party responded, when you reload chat, it's like you had a 1-way convo. Upon re-entering chat, the messages received are IN ORDER, but you've now missed a bunch of texts. Makes you look like a buffoon in business. (4) Photo sending rarely works (5) Support responds within 24 hours to negative iTunes store reviews but the same attention is not given to direct complaints. What does this say about the company? (6) At the end of the day, many people use this app for business. Maybe you had 1 weekend of extreme outage, but per many user reviews, the app has been buggy and had many issues that simply should not have existed to begin with. - I recommended to a few law firms looking into Burner NOT TO USE this unreliable service that is awful for client interface, does not even show phone call durations, and says "all the problems are solved." Simply put, THIS IS NOT OK FOR BUSINESSES DEALING W CLIENTS. ----- THIS MONTH WAS A NIGHTMARE (1) Burner was NOT working for about 1.5-2 wks. This is UNACCEPTABLE for a business line! We SHOULD all receive a DISCOUNT for this month! ** I was not receiving texts on time, some would arrive days later. ** I did not receive any phone calls. (2) I'm STILL not receiving badge notifications for texts or calls. I have to manually open app, click each person, and see if anything loads. (3) As others mentioned, SENDING PHOTO MESSAGES are a NIGHTMARE. I often have to hit resend 6 times, and if that doesn't work, keep sending the same image. (4) When the app did work, there were big delays in receiving phone calls; it had been ringing for a while before I received it. (5) App does not show call durations. This would is an important feature to have for people who use Burner for business and do hourly billing. (6) Support does not respond promptly. They take DAYS to respond. Unprofessional

gone downhill

used to be good. Many bugs preventing a good experience. Messages that aren’t recent will randomly disappear and not load. Support says the way to bring them back is to send a message to that person. How can you do that what you don’t have their number? Also the features are buggy like the backup option to google docs continually breaks. Used to be a fan of this app but about ready to burn it. Update: Developer reply only confirms exactly what I previously stated. All messages from past contacts are gone forever if you do not know their number to send them a message. I have a dozen contacts in my business that I had interacted with and now I have no way to contact them. I trusted this app to retain a history that I can continue a dialogue with and now all messages over last 20 days are “burned”, even though I am paying for subscription to keep the number. I am devastated with this missing data. There is no fix. Can’t send someone a message if number is not saved somewhere else. The developer says the “fix” is to search contacts? That does not work for me as I have previous contacts saved that did NOT appear in search. Note the “disappearing messages” is a NEW issue the developer doesn’t seem to know how to fix. , I’ve used the service over a year and it didn’t happen in past. I’ve contacted support and they have said the same “it’s a bug, try sending a message to the number that doesn’t show up” (rinse and repeat) please just fix the issue and I’ll be glad to keep the service and update my review.

Unreliable and shoddy support

The app has become less and less stable with periodic outages when no calls or messages can be received (November, 2017). I've contacted Support many times and the answer is generally either "It's a known problem and we'll fix it" or "delete and reinstall the app". This has caused me to loose dozens of conversations and also means that they have no idea what is causing the problem. There are more reliable solutions available. The application does basically what it's supposed to do - allow you to create a phone number for voice & text that you can "burn" when you want it to disappear, then create another, etc. I found the user interface to be a little confusing at first but it's easy to learn. You can pick an area code and I didn't have any trouble finding a number in my city. Some users on the chat support board have complained about certain cities being unavailable but that seems rare. Buying units of talk-minutes or text messages can get pretty expensive and you learn quickly to consolidate things into a single message. Perhaps the developers should consider a byte-metered option for those who like short responses like "LOL". If you are receiving texts from others this can be frustrating because you essentially have no control over how much of your money that other people burn. The big problem with the app is that it delays and drops texts occasionally. You have no way of knowing what you didn't get so I wouldn't recommend Burner for anything super-important. Also I have received text messages as much as 3 hours after they were sent and then out of sequence. The response of Support is to shutdown the app and delete and reinstall it but the problem persists. They generally blame it on your net access dropping but mine is rock-solid and it still occurs. There is a fundamental problem with the mechanism that performs the store and forward function because I receive messages that were sent AFTER the delayed messages were sent. I've verified this by having senders take screenshots of what they actually sent me. I wish Support would address this problem so the service was reliable. Other than this big problem it's a fine app and I would recommend.

Badge Notifications DO NOT BUY

This is a major problem. I have up-to-date OS and using an iPhone 7. It’s a great service other than this MAJOR flaw.

Sometimes works - sometimes not

I use my Burner number for business and pleasure, to protect my personal line and privacy. I pay for service on one line, ~$5/month. I think this app usually works, but it has several major bugs. It’s now actually cost me some business, and definitely more than a couple dates (not as big a deal but still inconvenient). I regularly experience the following problems while using my Burner number: Lag in receiving messages from others, meaning conversations are difficult to follow. I know I receive messages minutes later and out of order than they are sent. A few weeks ago the service was completely down for the entire weekend. I had to give my private number to a couple people, and that was inconvenient for several reasons. It also took me about 12 hours to figure out what was happening, resulting in me standing a date up. I FREQUENTLY completely fail to receive messages from others. This results in so many problems it’s ridiculous. Remember: I use this app’s services in my business, and it’s cost me a significant amount of money and makes me look unprofessional. At this point, giving my Burner number to people is a huge risk. I’m basically gambling with my personal and professional image. Will I receive their messages? Will they receive mine? Will I be able to make and receive phone calls? How many miscommunications and lost deals will this cause? Now I will give people my Burner number and try to give them my personal number as quickly as possible, or I give them a ridiculous caveat with the number. Ie; if you don’t receive a response from me please reach out to me at: (555) 555-5555. And then I have to wonder why I’m even bothering to use and pay for this number to begin with. The devs say they’re working on fixing bugs “constantly”, but it seems like every update introduces spottier service and more problems. The service I paid for three months ago was actually superior to and more reliable than the service I pay for today. I’ve used google voice for years, and I think I’m going to stick with that service over Burner. It’s free and I’ve NEVER had a problem sending/receiving messages with their service.
