Removed essential features

Integration with Slack or some other persistent pure-internet platform was essential, and has been removed. Charges a lot of money, and disappears old messages if a line isn't renewed. Not really recommended.

False Advertising - Subscription Only
ThisGameTrulyReallySucks

This app claims to offer a pre-paid plan. That is not true. It is a subscription plan only. False advertising. Bait and switch.

No way to unsubscribe

There is no way to unsubscribe from iTunes. Very frustrated that I can’t cancel this.

It’s garbage now. Used to be fantastic.

It was handy to use Burner to create a temporary phone number for one reason or another. Marketer was giving out coupons and required you cell number. Potential job interview but went through a disreputable recruiter. That sort of thing. Buy 3 credits, create a burner and let it expire in a few days when you’re done. Very convenient. But now they’ve ruined it. I would give it zero stars if I could. First the app started glitching. Asking for me to re-authorize it with a text message every minute or so. Then they took my money and didn’t give me the credits, wouldn’t create a new burner, reported server problems whenever I tried to report the problem. So, I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Immediately after reinstall I was presented with a $10/month subscription prompt and no way to dismiss it. Force quitting the app and relaunching got me past the prompt and into the setup screens and then I finally got to the point where I could buy credit and set up a burner… except that the only non-subscription option is now 8 credits for 30 days - $5 bucks instead of $2 bucks. Not quick, easy, or cheap anymore. No more simple sms or quickie burner phone number options, and a flood of popups pushing the $10/month plan if you try to select even that crummy one-time prepay plan. Heck with this. Burner was quick and easy and cheap and not annoying. Now it’s none of the above. There are other options for the same type of service. A few months ago they were just a little more of a hassle than Burner. But now Burner’s the worst of the bunch.

Best Bummer App

Have been looking for a career change.. so I have been using “Burner” as my “work” phone #. The issue I have been having is that whenever I receive calls and go to answer them, the call gets dropped. I’ve had to call potential employers back and apologize for the dropped calls… not the first impression I was trying to make :(

This app works fine. I use this as a business number and it constantly shows up as another caller ID or scam likely. Please fix this.

They scam you for the first month
MiaTango

Before the end of my free trial I emailed to make SURE they knew I wanted to cancel. They wrote back: In regards to the subscription, that must be cancelled through your iTunes account. Keep in mind, deleting your Burner account will not automatically cancel your iTunes based subscription and you will be charged the renewal fees until it is manually cancelled. Let us know what we can do to help, and if you’d still like your account deleted, just confirm that for me and I’ll start the process. SERIOUSLY? Let them know??? What the heck do they think the email said?? That I was still considering keeping it????? They scam you for the first month and then let you go but they get $10 off of you before you leave. UPDATE: I got a second email AGAIN giving me instructions to let them know if I want to cancel. THREE TIMES I said I wanted to, how many times do they need? They said they’d send a confirmation text to ensure I’m the owner. No text ever came. They keep you hooked and won’t let you go!!
