My Grandchildren love this app!

dalimama66

My grandchildren are 4 and 5 years old. So when they play with a tablet we restrict them to learning games. However this app does not restrict them from having fun while doing it. It becomes more like a game than a learning app. It is a wonderful app that allows the children to learn and become excited about learning every day. It uses games like tracing fireflies and it has different personal profiles, which can help track the progress of your children. The graphics on the apps are amazing and very active which keep the kids involved. They are constantly requesting to play this and they have never gotten bored with it. This is a must have for anybody with small children.

Fun Way to Learn Shapes and Writing Skills!

AlainaBullock

This app is perfect for helping your little one learn the skills needed to write. Using vibrant colors, cute music and easy-to-follow directions, your child will learn their shapes through tracing. As your child progresses from shape to shape, they will fill a jar with fireflies, once the jar is full, they move on to the next level. Soon they will be combining shapes to make bugs and robots! So fun! My 3 year old niece loves it, and I love the fact that it helps her develop small motor skills, and helps her attention span increase!

Great for learning shapes

Butterfly LifeStyle

This Kid Academy app is great for kids beginning to learn the different shapes by teaching through tracing. The design extras such as bright colors, sounds and moving objects are great for keeping your little one's attention. I had a little trouble with the app freezing the first time I opened it after the download but its been great ever since. I strongly recommend this app for parents with toddler aged kids.

You Have to Trace it Just Right...

An Ordinary Housewife

The free version of this app is pretty limited, but enough to let you try it out. I tried to get my 3 year old to do it and it seems you have to be too precise in the tracing for him to be able to do. Even I had trouble getting the shapes just right for the taste of the app. It's a little frustrating for young children, but maybe it will help them improve their skills!

Great Learning App for shapes

Ramblings Of Mama

I'm a huge fan of learning apps for my toddler. The game has adorable, with little lightning bugs that make a teeny purr-type sound when you "collect" each one as you trace your finger across the shape. The App tells you "This is the octagon, trace the circle and collect fireflies". I love that it tells the child the shape, which is especially helpful for the little preschoolers that are still learning shape recognition. However, please note, tracing the shape can be a little difficult to do for a 3-year old on an iPhone due to the size, so I highly recommend a larger tablet for the tracing apps, for mamas of younger preschoolers. One neat thing is that if you have multiple kiddos that play the apps, you are able to enter their "Parent Zone" and create different profiles for each child using the game. This is especially beneficial for therapists like myself that might let patients use the apps for reinforcement during therapy. You're able to view their progress, so it can show you where they're sitting for each of the workbooks in the App. I love that Kid's Academy is interactive, has a pleasant (read: not creepy) voice, and cheery background nature sounds with music. You're able to select male or female voice overs, take away nature sounds for those kiddos that might have sensory issues with those kinds of noises, and are able to turn off the background music, as well. I think this app is great that it teaches the proper direction of shape formation, but there is more than one way to make a triangle. Also, when there are multiple errors, there is a cheery voice that is meant to encourage, but it says "This is easy!", which can be extremely frustrating to a child who is having a difficult time. "Good Job", or "Keep Trying!" or even, "You almost did it!" would be more encouraging.

Educational & Fun!

Sarah (MaeGal.com)

If you're looking for a way to entertain your little ones but you want them to gain something from the experience, this is the app for you. It's a fun way for your little ones to learn shapes. This is one of the few apps that's both fun and educational. While I'm all about limited screen time for young children, it's not always realistic and this app is nice in times of need. I would imagine the sound would get bothersome after awhile, and that's what the parent mode comes to the rescue! I would certainly recommend this app to friends who have young children.

Such a Fun and Easy Way to learn Basic Shapes

Shore Savings Pat

This is the PERFECT app to help teach shapes!! With the help of colorful fireflys and a friendly voice the littles will not only learn the names of the basic shapes but how to draw them by tracing them twice to fill a jar with fireflies. Tracing cute robot shapes and positive reinforcement add to the fun! Great for those too young to read directions on their own to play without your help. The littles will love it!!

Great job

As a father I love to see my kids enjoy what they are learning. This app kept the attention of my 2 year old son and that could be because they used bugs in it. He is really enjoying learning his shapes this will give him a great start on learning.

Great app for kids!

AmberleeCave

My youngest daughter is obsessed with drawing and learning about shapes and is constantly obsessing about different bugs and what they are and what they do. She is not as interested in letters and numbers so this app is perfect for her and it still helps her learn which is great. I love that the app is very colorful and keeps her engaged. It makes it to where I can let her play without feeling guilty that she is playing a game on my phone

Waste of money

LandinJones99999

The app is not user friendly. It has you trace the shape backwards. That's all there is to it. The fireflies serve no purpose. Very lame and I wish I had the $2.99 back.
