Enjoyable

Reminds me of the classic computer game Eastern Front by Chris Crawford. I was disappointed to find that if Washington is killed the play ends even if you have the upper hand as I did during one game.

Making history fun
Just A Guy 55

Excellent gameplay, easy to follow. Opportunity to try multiple strategies. After playing I supplemented what I learned in the game with some additional research on this battle. More rewarding than just playing a fictional game. I look forward to the next installment!

Nice Idea

Pretty cool game. Sometimes it's not possible to move troops after they apparently "combine" on the same tile. Trying to get on a boat with Lord Stirling but he was somehow attached to Washington. Please fix this and I'll update my rating.

Hard to figure out
Sandscribbler

I was excited to play this game. But I can't even figure out *how* to -- let alone how to strategize. Some of the historical commentary is cut off, and swiping or tapping on it doesn't reveal the rest of it. Currently, as a game it's not compelling enough to play, and as history it's not easy enough to learn from. I think this game would benefit greatly from an on-boarding module, rather than just dumping a new user into the middle of a confusing battle.

More frustration than reward

More than once I've returned to the game after a break and found that my progress was lost, and that beginning a new game was required. The factoids that appear on the screen about various American Revolutionary War units are interesting but are disconnected from the play, as far as I can tell. The navigation around the board is clunky; pinching, zooming, and dragging the map does not flow smoothly.

Slow and a battery drain

Played it a few times but will get rid of it soon. I like the invent of the specific historic scenario but problems of the game done make it worth it. First of all it is a huge battery hog. This is a bad enough to quit alone. I found the opening phase of gameplay always requires resetting the location of troops. It takes forever. There should be a way to speed up play. The only way I have found to win is an all out retreat which still looses some men. There must be a better way yet the odds are certainly against you. The fact that the game says the task is to defend the area but congratulates you for a retreat that saves lives is contradictory. Also if you close the game you have to start a new game next time. Since it takes so long to play it would be nice to be able to remember where you left off.
