Used to love it
BradVa2

Long time user of this app. I’ve used a fair number of the home-brewer deals nationwide. But something has changed in the settings. I have always left the location setting on, “While Using the App.” Earlier this year something changed so that the app only seems to work if the location setting is changed to “Always”. I did that and got an iOS message indicating that the app accessed my location over 90 times in 3 days, even though the app was closed and not running in the background. I told the American Homebrewers Association that I was so angry I might not renew my membership there. They asked me to remove the app and re-install, which I did. That accomplished nothing. They had no further ideas. I love looking for homebrewer related deals, but there’s no reason for this app to check my location more than 30 times per day when I’m not using it. Brad

Edit - Thanks to the response from the developer I reset my location services to ask on launch, then re-chose to allow only while using and it has started to work as expected. Thanks!

Useless

The app is now useless because I can’t get into it.

App won’t open

With the new iOS 13 I can’t even access brew guru. When I log in I get a screen asking for permissions but the screen is frozen.

Great App for Brewers

I love the Brew Guru app and the latest version runs wonderfully. The access to award-winning recipes and top-notch clones helps me a lot in planning out my own recipes. The AHA member deals are great as well!

No BeerXML downloads?

This app does a great job of providing access to articles and recipes both, but there needs to be one additional feature. Recipes should have BeerXML downloads for AHA members. I have spent a lot of time transcribing recipes into my recipe software. It would be much easier if I could do a quick import with a standardized format.

Could be

This could be good, but as they have set it up it’s just one if those fronts for getting you to pay a pretty expensive subscription. It does zero after the trial without yet another recurring fee for some dubious “discounts “ whether you want them or not, and maps provides brewery locations just a bit more reliably. For sure not worth their high prices.

Absolutely useless.

When using the app, you can only move forward. If you move backward, you will no longer be able to move forward. Example - if you are searching for a recipe, and you find one and click back, you cannot click on another recipe. If you click on an article and go back, you cannot click on another article. You have to force quit in order to get to the next article. Garbage. If it weren’t for the fact that it’s all available online outside the app on the AHA website, I’d be pretty mad. I’ve tried the app on my iPhone XR & my iPad Pro, both results are the same. Trash.

Potential Privacy Issues?

The app is continuing to ask for my GPS location when I’m not using the app as well as my motion activity. No thanks. There is no reason the app needs my motion activity or my location when I’m not even using the app. Is my data being sold to someone? I’m suddenly skeptical of this app.

Doesn’t work
Mourvedre

Only shows pages saying the app works better with location services and notifications on, but it hasn’t requested those permissions so I couldn’t turn them on if I wanted to, and I don’t.
