Love the concept of this app and it's basic functionality is great. Let's me keep track of my large collection of books, which is something I've been wanting to do forever. The barcode scanning feature is great when it picks up correctly. I found about less than 3/4 of the books I scanned could be read by the scanner even though the bar codes were clear and legible. I do love the ability to just type in the title and pull it up online to add to my collection. I was unhappy to have to pay $4.99 for premium after adding the first fifty books.

Love the concept and will use the free version. But if more books were found in the online search instead of having to manually add them I would buy the full version.

Was working...until I found the limit

I chose the paid version so I could upload all my books. Why does the app keep deleting books on me? No clue. I have around 330 in my library and it will randomly deletes some books. I can't add anything new because it will end up deleting something. That makes this app useless. I guess it's a bug or there is a hidden book limit in the paid version. If there is a limit, that is deceitful advertising.

It only scans in like a 1/4 of the books and then it tells me i have to pay 5 bucks to go over 50 books? wouldn't have downloaded it if i knew i had to pay to cover all of my books would have been nice to know that ahead if time -_-

It's come a long way!

Book Buddy is exactly the app I was looking for to manage my library. It works really great! I like that I can sync my collection with my phone and my iPad. They keep adding features, and I think, at this point, they've added all the features I suggested. When I emailed to suggest features, they actually gave me a personal response. That was a welcome surprise!

The reasons I did not buy

My use for this app was to categorize my collection. I have a few things that I would like the app to add before purchasing. 1) Bulk editing is flawed. It says book scanned, however, it may not have "found" the book. What that means? You scan 50 books, four didn't go in. Which four? Well, let me just match up the other 46 books to find what's left. The fix? Let me know while scanning that the info was not found so I can set it aside. Tada! 2) Still with bulk. I need these 50 books I just scanned in the same personal category. It seems there is no way to bulk edit, even directly after the scanning process. The fix? An option to put all just scanned books in same category. Or, (less desirable but maybe workable) bulk of editing by selecting more than one book to edit. 3) Within trial mode, had about 5 not scan the first time. They did let though. @.@ I'm sure there are many other things to improve on this app but this is as far as I got before my breaking point.

Won't recognize the ISBN codes

It would be an awesome app if it actually recognized the ISBN code on the back of the books. I have to add all my books in manually. I scan the code and it tells me it needs a ISBN code which is clearly on the book. Major inconvenience.

The App limits users to 50 books before requiring an upgrade. It also needs an update to the list of publishers for popular books such as The Bell Jar.

I've had BookBuddy for over a year now, and I'm so happy with it. I have nearly 400 books in my collection, so having a way to organize and keep track of them is great. I purchased the pro version and it is very worth the money, because the alternative would be having to track my collection by hand which would take way too long. I also love the feature that allows me to mark which books I haven't yet read, am currently reading, and have finished. There are so many features available on this app and they are all very user friendly. I couldn't figure out a certain setting and I emailed support, and they were able to help me within minutes. Great for any size collection, definitely recommend!!
