Good, wish it were great

Dereklderek

Bias fx just like Jamup pro has its place and both are great for that. For instance headphone practice, direct recording, jamming with friends plugged into an amp, or even for gigging. You can get away with live performances, but it does sound thinner than an equivalent actual tube amp. I don't feel it has the projection to sound great at tremendous stage/club volume. Again an adequate alternative for the cost obviously if you have nothing else. Not a replacement for expensive unfortunately, tube amps and pedals. A fantastic ultra inexpensive alternative to get you rocking anytime, anywhere.

Subpar

CaptPostMod

Really glitchy and the interapp audio features promised don't work at all. I think I was most disapointed that the Bias Amp integration they promised doesn't mean you can easily import your already designed Bias Amps in to Bias FX. You can, but it's as a separate inapp audio instance instead of in the actual built in amp slot. That really killed the effectiveness of this app for. The tone was better than some other amps, but also a bit more...blunt maybe. Not in a 1-dimensional way but in that all frequencies kind of shone through equally instead of getting scoops and humps like you do with a real amp or effects.. Not a fan and honestly would rather have my money back.

Jesus the sound

I just got this app a little while back, and finally got a IRig 2 and a gutiar cable to work with the app. When I plugged it in for the first time, I was rewarded after about a total of 80 bucks spent for this app, a loud ringing in my ears. I don't know if its something with my guitar or my cable or whatever, but I tested the app with the mic the first time I got it and it worked fine. Please try and fix this problem, because I've been waiting 3 weeks to finally play my first new electric!

Don't let the negative reviews fool you!

I was put off by the negative reviews initially but I saw a lot of my favorite players using this successfully with the iOS devices on YouTube. I bought this app and the bias amp app and they both work great for me. I'm using an iPad Pro and an iRig HD interface. It was a little hard to get set up because the apps didn't recognize the iRig interface right away like garage band and others did but it seems to be an issue with the iPad mic access. Regardless, once you have it set up it sounds amazing to me. I haven't used the desktop version of this but from what I've seen and heard on YouTube it also sounds amazing. I've been playing for 20+ years and to have access to software like this for such a small price blows my mind. I don't think that most people realize that to buy something of this quality 10 years ago would cost hundreds or maybe $1000+. Actually the quality didn't exist in software obviously but if it were a hardware unit it would cost a lot. So make sure your interface is good and your iOS is up to date and enjoy it kids, you're lucky that people work so hard to develop things like this. And no, I don't have any affiliation with Positive Grid, I just recognize good products. And also I know it doesn't sound 100% the same as your tube amp through a good cabinet, but the versatility and choices you get for this are what make me a fan of it. I am looking forward to buying the Bias Amp head when it's available.

love this app, but there's a huge issue with it

brev1985

I've been using Positive Grid products for a couple of years now with no issue up until recently. I am using BIAS FX on a brand new iPad mini 4 and the app causes my ipad to freeze and restart and now the ipad will not even turn on. CPU usage was only at like 30%. This can't be a hardware issue as my iPad is not even a week old. Any suggestions. I will give 5 stars again once the issue is fixed.

Brilliant stuff from Positive Grid

KorkMoyer

Everything this company produces is brilliant. I am a gear-head, and I am simply finding it very hard to justify loading the truck and moving gear. The meticulous detail with everything's no they do, makes me feel comfortable in very familiar environments aesthetically, with zero learning curve. I could never carry all of this gear to produce such complex tones night-after-night. Thank you guys, for making playing a joy, whether in live performance, noodling, or recreating entire rigs I own(ed)!

The best Fx processing app... Except for one thing...

alchemus

Bias FX, at this point, is the best FX processing app at the moment. However, there's one feature that it needs for me to give it 5 stars: the ability to turn on/off effects using specific CC messages values. For example, if I have a drive pedal (CC #25), I'd like to turn it off with values from 0 to 63, and turn it on with values from 64 to 127. (Or maybe to let us decide the on/off values). Not just using the opposite value of the current state (which is what it does on the current version). Most of the FX processors out the can do this (Axe-FX, Line 6 PODs, Eleven Rack, etc.) This has been troublesome for those like me that would like to control both presets and stompboxes from a MIDI foot controller and be able to see the correct effect state on the foot controller itself. Which is by sending both PC and CC messages when changing presets. Most MIDI foot controllers don't allow to just turn the LED of the particular effects in use in a preset without sending a corresponding CC message. And if I try sending it, then the preset turn all the effects to it's opposite value on the preset in Bias FX. There's a workaround for this, which is saving the preset in Bias FX with the FX on/off values to their opposite values, and then when I call the preset from the foot controller the effects will be on their correct states. However, this is too overwhelming since it involves extra processing to turn those effects in or off, and it's also not convenient when I'm using Bias FX without the MIDI foot controller. So until then, this app will get 4 star from me.

Excellent in every way

Most incredible app ever. Honestly, tone, easy to move about, lots of patches, did I say tone. This app nails it.

Finally! No noise!!!

K2

I can now change my rating back to 5 stars! All it took was for them to finally realize that there was a problem. As a beta tester for this version, I relentlessly gave the developers feedback and updated tests once I knew that I had their attention. I knew it was fine when the app ran continuously with no explosions!! I started using it and making sounds again. I can assure you that they are also working on the desktop version to fix the same issues. It's all good because this is a great sounding app!! Thanks for your willingness to fix the issues. Update: Still working great!!! I'm using it fully on both iOS and OS X.

Best guitar app

Bias FX

I love pretty much everything positive grid does but Bias FX is probably the best guitar app you'll find for a long time. Any tone is possible, especially if you buy Bias Amp as well. Truly amazing stuff that blows away the competition. Good for bass too but that still has room for growth.
