This game is rigged in computer mode. There are some good players. In computer mode it hurts your game to practice on it. Don’t waste your money

Best BG game I’ve found!

I’ve tried free BG apps that try to sell you “coins” or “tokens” after they try to get you hooked. Those programs are rigged IMO... This program has no agenda like that. Try it out... I thought I was a decent player, but this app has showed me I still have much to learn.. Whoever wrote this program is a f’in genius!

Helped me pass my field sobriety test...!

My BAC hurdled the legal limit while still at work— I’m a grade school teacher. Anyhoo, it wasn’t so much the Dutch courage as the psychotropic chasers that our chemistry teacher was speed-funneling down my gullet. In seconds I was transported to the Cambrian era to watch dinosaurs ossify. When I came to, patriotic lighting saturated my car. I thought of the Battle of Baltimore, but was stirred by the bright diodes of a police flashlight. “Sir, can you hear me? I’m gonna ask that you step outta the car.” “Why don’t you holster that light stick, officer before I use it for an anal self-exploratory...” The next sequence went blurrily fast but finalized with my teeth getting flossed on his shoelaces and the zip-click of metal on my wrist-bones. I was cooked for sure. Just then... “Wait a minute. Did you just point on a blot in BGNJ?” With my mouth drooling, I weakly saw him fixed on my iPhone. “Yeah.” “Then you gotta bear off, hoss!” The rest is “point”-less blather.

Satisfied

Mystery Base

Unsatisfied that dice rolls are scripted and predetermined. Unrealistic combinations and repeat doublets are a source of consternation. Needs real-time dice rolling algorithm! After several hundred games I feel I am improving, albeit slowly. Wish there was more strategic guidance or tables of rolls/percentages to reference (though pointless the way dice are implemented here). Online can be okay though plagued by amateurs doubling at odd times, preoccupied with accumulating match points and not focused on the game in front of them. Some players slow to move or abandon games- should be penalty/forfeit here. Maybe this is implemented, it’s been along while since I played online. There are good books on the game which detail strategy and risk management. I suggest looking into them and playing on a real board to fully realize what a nice pastime this addictive game can be.

Laughable

The AI is very realistic in its rolls. I suspect it’s a relative of HAL 9000.

Fun but Cruel

The gameplay and interface are excellent. For me, the best backgammon interface in the store. However, the settings are confusing and poorly worded, and it took a while to figure out what would work best for me. Many users have complained about the random rolls the computer gives itself and the player. I have to agree, no matter how the developer substantiates the algorithm. In any mode from medium or higher, rolls become frustrating. Sometimes you get on a realistic streak, but often you’ll get many poor rolls in a row. So if you want to have fun playing backgammon, set this to the easy mode, otherwise it might become frustrating.

Doesn’t cheat

Bunch of sore losers in here. Print out the dice roll. Play it going first and second. Bet the computer will still beat you on expert. Put the dice roll into another hard engine. Bet it will still beat you. The developer has gone to incredible lengths to prove this that the dice roll is random. What would be his motivation for a cover-up? Makes no sense! Don’t listen to these people. Computer is way rough but doesn’t cheat.

If your into self-flagellation. . .

Jump on board the player vs. computer mode. The rolls the ai throws are silly. If you can get through five games w/o becoming frustrated - you’re a better person than me. Been playing backgammon for the better part of three decades and maybe once in that time I’ve seen an opponent get on a run like the ai has every fourth game or so.

Best backgammon game available

gupta finelli

The graphics aren’t as snazzy nor are the sound effects as crisp as some other BG games but there is no equal to the uniquely realistic gameplay in BGNJ. The AI is superb, the gameplay is fair. Any reports of “rigging of the dice” is a delusion in the mind of the player. Tutor modes and game analysis allow you to see your errors and really improve your game. Another highlight, the “league” of players is small but highly skilled and devoted. Best of all there is no constant “buy in” for chips or coins. You buy the game once and that’s it. The rest is playing and improving your ER. There is a crashing issue that seems to be a function of Game Center, so says the developer. It’s still the best game out there. One suggestion: open up the microphone. Then players could talk to each other in real time. Would save typing in the chat window and would make the game very social.
