Best router and app by far

b-lake624

No complaints so far. I do wish that I could customize the data usage calculator to coincide with my ISP billing cycle to see how close I am to data cap. Thanks for a great piece of hardware!

Great design, terrible functionality

Brandon Page

I want to love AMPLIFI, as it has great design, easy install, and a great app. However, the proof is in day to day use. With a large Apple household, it can’t maintain a quality IP. Drops literally about 15 every half hour. After installing a new modem and having the line in tested, we realized it was the AMPLIFI unit itself. Unfortunately, I cannot in good conscience recommend this to anyone. Perhaps they will improve over time.

a great product / but could use improvement

Qnigma

we install a lot of these, and they are great! but we have several clients where we have installed 7-10 additional antennas... the app doesn’t do a great job of displaying which antennas are connecting to which... signal strength is displayed when you look at each antenna, but a good “map” or layout would be better and GREATLY appreciated!! love the product, but a layout would be hugely appreciated... little dots just don’t cut it.

Has a UI poblem

my nickname is taken. Boo hoo

The UI doesn’t work in landscape mode. Pretty useless if you have an iPad Pro with keyboard that works only in landscape. Otherwise it works great. Hope they correct this soon.

Hands Down Best Router but app needs iPad sppt & remt mgmt

socrates99

This router is amazing! I’ve owned many others over the years and none can compare. It’s solid and well constructed. The only problem is it’s lack of a iPad version of the app and it’s reliance on social network credentials for remote management. I don’t trust these social networks enough to give them access to all the smart home equipment I have let alone my network and while that may be odd for some to hear I think that ubiquiti should be able to figure out remote management without using a Fbook or google account login to facilitate remote management. It’s just something else to worry about having a breach/hack. Since I don’t want to link my router to these services I cannot remotely manage my network when away from home. Now with that out of the way the local management with their app is extremely easy and is just great. It’s truly a great system even with its remote management shortcomings. Overall I am extremely pleased with the app (for local management) and the mesh WiFi router. If they would address these issues with the app it would be AT LEAST 5 stars.

Five main gripes.

Colin.Stalter

I have five main gripes with this app, most of which could easily be fixed by the devs. 1. It takes too many taps to view a device’s IP address. 2. When viewing device-specific bandwidth usage in the “Family” tab, they are using a cutesy smoothing technique for each device’s current usage. E.g. if a device suddenly started using 100 mbps, instead of just showing this number, they slowly ramp the number up from 0 kbps all the way up to 100 mbps over like 10 to 20 seconds. These numbers should simply update at some resolution and show the current value, it is otherwise very misleading. 3. I should be able to sort current clients based on network usage. Further, I would like to be able to track total usage over fixed periods of time, such as 24 hours, one week etc. 4. I would like granular control over mesh point positioning. Occasionally, my mesh. That is two hops from my router instead attaches directly to the router with a very weak signal. The only way I can get it to go back to the proper configuration is by restarting the mesh point and sometimes partially blocking the router so that it thinks that it has to connect to the other mesh point. 5. No support for Dynamic DNS. This has added significant complexity to my security camera system. I would also like to see support for third-party VPN logins on the router itself. There are numerous other routers out there that support this feature. Aside from these grapes, it has been an excellent system and is mostly plug and play. I am overall very impressed with the product but there are a couple things that need to be fixed. I have also found that occasionally my Internet speeds dropped considerably, but it does not seem to be a problem with my ISP or modem. But a quick restart of the router does make the problem go away.

Great system

@mannybeastin

I definitely enjoy the system and how easy it is to set up my only ask would be to make an iPad version of the app

Can’t show client name when using another dhcp server?

lvw001

It would be better if it can show client name when using a dedicated dhcp server.

Amplifi

Very good designed app. This is the best app I’ve probably used for WiFi.... besides their enterprise apps. A few things to note... I would like to see what access point the device connects too in the main devices screen instead of going to that device. Not a big deal though otherwise works very well. Easy to use and set up

Great hardware, software needs improvement

BradKnowles

Absolutely nothing but good things to say about the hardware. Full five stars there, six if I could. But this software needs improvement. Two stars off for that. First off, it keeps bugging me to connect my social account. I do not want to do that under any circumstances, and there should be a “don’t ask me again” button. Second, this software is iPhone only. Yes, you can technically run it on your iPad, but only in iPhone simulation mode, with a tiny screen and the iPhone keyboard that is totally unsuitable for use on an iPad. I’ll give them the stars back when they fix their software.
