Pure Junk- my camera is going back tomorrow Amazon -

BigPaulieF

Needs firmware downloaded to SD card, are they kidding, where’s the WiFi? WiFi over Ethernet- and no Free Storage-

Good Camera but app needs more work.

It would be nice to have the option to restart your dvr/nvr from the app. Also why can’t your video display in HD instead of SD each time you open the app.

Has anyone updated? Would be nice to know what bugs were fixed in this 3/18 update

MikeIsAlarmed!

I'm afraid to upgrade to new app since everything is working perfectly for me at this time. Can anyone whose upgraded chime in and let us all know how it went (or whether the update broke the app). Thanks.

This system is great and so so simple to set up, even for an older person!! :)

Buggy Apps & No Support

sle3665

The tech support from the Amcrest site has no working knowledge of their own apps or what customers see from the iPhone or iPad. They themselves are using a browser on a desktop. How do you help people when you cannot see what they’re experiencing? The camera is good but the customer service is so poor, with non-existent Support, rendering it useless.

Aspect Ratio and retina display support

Bristmi

The app doesn’t support the wide aspect ratio of the 4MP cameras that I have (and I assume other camera models) in portrait mode, but rather condenses the image to a 4:3 ratio. The app also needs to be updated to support the higher resolution Retina displays on all modern iPhones.

Frustrating

Jjnjlplk

Poorly written software. Hard to navigate. Three calls to support and still not right. I would not buy again if I had a do over.

Frustrating and glitchy

Proctors

When it works it’s great but it stops working intermittently and drops random cameras all the time for no apparent reason. Spent over an hour on the phone with tech support and all cams were working only to have two suddenly dropped again with the ‘failed to connect’ error. My cloud account suddenly won’t connect to any of my Cameras and I was told they were resetting my connection & problem would be fixed within 15-20 minutes. 36 hours later nothing has happened and no response from tech support. If I could do it over again I would not buy Amcrest. Also caused fail on PCI compliance scan due to known security vulnerability on Amcrest cams. Had to invest significantly in special firewalls to deal with the issue after a year of trying to get help from Amcrest.

Don’t waste your time or money on this crap

apes400

The system works great for about 3 months. Then the problems start and continue until you’re beyond frustrated. Their customer service department is of no help at all. They want you to type in all serial and model numbers (ok, that’s expected), then take a pic and transfer it to them (not easy to do from an iPhone to your desktop computer since you can’t do it through the app). Then they can’t help you until you’ve gone through a 6 step verification process to prove you’re not a robot. Buy a night owl brand- a little more money but not by much.

Bad cameras

Sophie26773389:

I've tried and tried to give amcrest a chance. Sometimes they'd work great, so I ended up buying several cameras and a amcrest nvr. I hate to say how much I've invested in amcrest, but after having microsd card slots claim no microsd card is present and the nvr decide to stop recording I can't waste anymore money. I'm sure if I called support they'd send me free cameras in exchange for five star reviews but I can't do it anymore, amcrest sells junk and I won't be bought off
