The classic that started it all

If it sounds simple, it is. If you expect to survive for long, don't. It's great to see one of the originators of the RPG computer game genre on the iPhone, in all of its impossible glory!

Ok. I get it. No "save" necessary. I beat the game in 1 hour. Turn into a Lizard Man and have a TON of food and amulets and you'll kill the Balrog on floor 9 in 3 hits. Remember, the Maze changes as a trap when you do certain actions. An amulet is a ladder out of those situations. The Gremlin will decimate your food supply

Perfect port to iPhone. Who would have guessed this classic originally programmed on an Apple II would be still played on today's high tech toys?

Since this and the ultima games were way before my time, its awesome to see a game so old hold up so well. Its easy to immerse yourself in, and is quite a challenge. Worth it.

I vaguely remembered playing this game so I can't really critique it on originality. I can just give some hints. I stayed in the upper parts of the dungeon until I had enough food (3000) to venture lower. In this game hit points build fast -it's the food supply that one little gremlin can wipe out. You'll see them at around level five. Food supply is usually cut in hAlf! If you battle the munchkin in four turns you can easily go from 3000 to 200 food! Amulets can help to increase or decrease your stats. You have to experiment here. At times I went from toad at 3 strength to Lizardman at 100. Whether fighter or wizard -you take a gamble at amulets for stats,hit points. for wizard it is a choice of up/down ladder and attack. Kill the balrag and turn into a knight -nothing much here. At level 6 in the dungeon is you final nemesis-the balrag -it took 9 hits with my stats at 100! good luck and have fun. Oh remember your place in the game can be saved, but once you die of starvation or decrease hit points you do not resurrect!
Freezes

Need to uninstall and reinstall every so often because the game freezes up completely. Forcing it to close does not fix the problem. Using iOS 8.2 on iPhone 6
