Content is great; but the app is as lousy as a tail-heavy model.

KevanSizemore.com

The content (articles, photos, videos) is great; but the app is clunky at best. The app tries to replicate the printed magazine in conjunction with a view that's formatted for easier reading on a mobile device. It would be great if the content was optimized for mobile devices instead of trying to replicate the "printed" and "electronic" versions of the magazine at the same time; sometimes it's better if an app focuses on doing one thing well instead of trying to be all things to all subscribers. Perhaps the best suggestion I can offer for improving the app is to allow the user to set a preferred view (pages or mobile-optimized content) that loads automatically when selecting an issue. The current experience that forces users to the 'Contents' page before displaying either a printed page or mobile-optimized content is confusing. Also, it's confusing that an issue which appears to be downloaded seems to download again when accessing the pages view or content view at a later time (e.g. a day or week after the magazine was originally viewed). One last thing: when I quit the application to do something else and come back the next day, why does it make me start over again at the beginning of the magazine? Again, the content itself is great, but the user experience within the app is lacking - especially compared to other digital magazines that offer a much more refined experience for tablet users, such as PC Magazine, Macworld Magazine, or Time Magazine.

Good content - app bugs persist

Kule Kanain

I've been a reader of MAN for decades. I was an early adopter and switched to the digital version when I found it available in 2011. Content has always been good. Changes to the digital app, not so much. While the app is usable, for the past several months the download does not complete - as another reviewer noted. Furthermore, all my issues, going back to 2011, are no longer shown as downloaded to my iPad. This requires me to go through the DL process all over just to review an article that should have already been sitting on my iPad for years. The just released addition 'bug fixes' in November. - TRY AGAIN? And, while I realise that this is from a publishing company and not an IT company, it is still customary to declare what you are fixing in such updates.

Can't download issues

RCJetPilot_FL

I am having a similar issue... The system doesn't save issues... I fly on commercial flights a lot and that is really the only time I have for recreational reading... Everytime I thought I had downloaded all my issues they are NOT available.. I have cancelled my subscription because if I can't read them when I have the time too what is the point

Great but Frustrating

Skyking1956a

I like having the magazines loaded on my iPad. I can download the monthly issues, but frustrated that I have to reinstall this app every single time I update iOS. I called, emailed my compliant, no one there seems to care. No other magazine app has this issue, from my perspective it is this app.

Can't buy Jan, Feb, Apr or May 2019 issues

SpankyC5

App was working for about a year and starting in 2019 it doesn’t work.

We should get a refund

DADruggist

Like others, this app is worthless, I can’t even download current issues. I cancelled my subscription.

It was great. Now it crashes

TWA84

I am unable to see any of my magazines. The app crashes as soon as you touch library. I deleted and reinstalled it and it still does the same thing.

Crashes every time

IatricSB

Been using for a couple of years and enjoy it. Now it crashes on load and is unusable. Deleted and reinstalled but still the same result. Subscription just renewed so planning to try and get a refund.

Never very good, now unusable

The original app was clunky but at least allowed you to download and save issues. Following a previous update there was no ability to read the issues unless you had an internet connection, even if you ‘downloaded’ them. Now you can’t even open the app. Progress marches on.

Crashes 100%

Volfan49

As everyone has said over the last 10 days, crashes 100% upon opening. I can understand it for a day or two. To not have it fixed after 10 days is inexcusable.
