Frustrating – Kids Book Report Review

My son and I spent two days working on a book review for his class. The app did not save the final half dozen edits we made and when I tried to email it to his teacher, it kept pulling up an old version. I closed out and tried to reopen his work, which was a HUGE mistake. Once you do that, you're stuck with a PDF of whatever was the last version saved. My advice- check the version history and make sure they've made some MAJOR overhauls before you waste your $.99. Pros: It breaks down story elements and give sentence starters to get kids thinking. You can email the final product (ish) to whomever you'd like. Cons: Doesn't save correctly Can only work on one project at a time, so you can't share a device amongst a group of students No spell check or automatic capitalization at the beginning of sentences- really? I understand wanting kids to know about proper nouns and wanting them to chek their own spelling, but we're also raising a digital generation. Let's face it, if you had to use an app the refused to capitalize and check your spelling, you'd find a more functional app. Ways to improve: Make a way to splice all of the sections kids write together into one document (a report/ paper) rather than just creating a PDF with pictures of each "page" as the only option for a finished product.
