Hidden gem? – Akane the Kunoichi Review
This game really gave me that SNES vibe with a hint of modern doujin soft. Haruneko has a good understanding of how Japanese platformer physics work. From the way Akane clings to walls, to the timing and weight of her jumps, is dead on. She even builds up inertia when she runs. Everything is responsive and instant. It just feels right.
I felt that the life bar is a bit too long and scrolls and power up items were placed a bit randomly in some levels. But none of this took away from the fun I was having.
This is just a really solid platformer with good controls, with or without the iCade. I really hope to see another game starring Akane in the future.
