Can’t scan my IPhone X on WhatsApp – WhatsApp Messenger Review

I have tried all possible means to scan my WhatsApp QR code on IPhone X on the desktop app. I keep getting “can’t scan the code? Exit and relaunch the app” which I have done to no good end.
