What have you done?! – Uber - Request a ride Review

What changed TODAY, Thursday 02/17/2022? I’ve always had a predictable experience with Uber all over my hometown of Dallas-Ft. Worth. Ever since I opened my account in 2015 it has been reliable (aside from a few months during 2020). Today, however, something has gone awry. My typical ride shows a typical ETA of 4-8min arrival at a price of $9.41-$17.91, which is fine by me (the $18 one is always during busy times). Today it showed an ETA of 8min with a price of $12.62, which again was fine. Unlike any other time however, it went through FOUR drivers. All seemed to accept them cancel. Finally, the 5th driver “stuck.” 8min turned into 23min. Once the ride was over, you billed me $22.80. The driver was in a filthy car, speaking to to someone the entire time in a foreign language and disregarded traffic signals. He never once acknowledged my name or anything. Something just seemed “off” and shady about it all. I never get drivers in filthy cars with terrible ETA’s. Like, never until today. To add to that, my ride back home was almost a mirror image. Multiple cancellations, a price which again did not match your quote, and an ETA that quadrupled once finally accepted. I asked the 2nd driver (who thankfully was somewhat more typical of my usual experience). She said “major app changes” took place today. She seemed oblivious to what these changes were, but said she’s never had to decline so many fares as she did today. So, Uber- what did you screw up in Dallas, TX today? It was something colossal. That, I can tell. I’m not happy. I’ve got a bad feeling about no longer being able to rely on Uber during those times where I happen to encounter longer waits + high pricing (i.e., the few times monthly I order rides after an event or a night out). Whatever you’ve done concerns me.
