Sonos Performance has Suffered For past 1+ Years – Sonos Review

I have noticed over the past year or so that the performance of the Sonos speakers has not been the same as was experienced when I purchased my first Sonos speakers back in 2016. In the first few years, during which I added 3-4 more pairs of Sonos Play1 speakers, the sound was absolutely flawless. This is an anecdotal observation, but it “seems” that the replay performance and the synchronization of mucus across all my speakers suffered with Sonos’ introduction of the Sonos Move and So is Roam speakers which do NOT support Sonos’ proprietary mess networking, but instead rely on “standard” Wi-Fi signaling. I “suspect” that this move to using “standard” Wi-Fi was done in order to make Sonos more “main stream” and not require Customer to purchase a Sonos Boost device or run an Ethernet cable to at least one of their Sonos speakers. If this is an accurate presumption on my part, which of course is just a conjecture, then I believe this was an unwise decision. I am just one Customer, but as a point of reference, I have spent thousands of dollars on So is speakers because they played music FLAWLESSLY. I did not have any problem purchasing a Sonos Boost device (which is relatively inexpensive, considering my total investment on Sonos equipment). What I value, why I invested in Sonos, what I want is FLAWLESS sound, across all my speakers. Today I have speakers that drop playback randomly every 10-20 seconds, even with pairs of speakers, where the left speaker drops sound and the right speaker keeps playing. I have invested in a very expensive Linksys Velop mesh network with 4 Velop nodes each connected with CAT6 Ethernet cables to backhaul network traffic back to the main router (this preserving Wi-Fi bandwidth. I have a Sonos Boost device (which of course is directly connected to the network with the Sonos supplied Ethernet cable). And my Internet service is provided via a fiber optic cable that terminated in my house and is rated at 1 gbs (~1,000 mbs) download and 1 gbs (1,000 mbs) upload. In “real world” testing using “Speedtest.net” I have observed an average around 800 mbs download and around 550 mbs upload. Therefore I do not believe that the playback issues I’m experiencing have anything to do with my Internet connection.
