Mixed review – Nextdoor: Neighborhood Network Review

I love the interesting interactions with people not only in my immediate neighborhood, but also nearby ones. There are numerous examples of neighbors helping neighbors, fund raisers for neighbors facing unexpected expenses (car repair, pets needing emergency vet care, funeral expenses, etc.). It is heartwarming and truly inspirational to see my neighbors pulling together to support each other. What I don’t enjoy is the way the app works, or more accurate doesn’t work! - Many times you press View in order to see a new post, but the app doesn’t take you there! No matter how many times you try, you are taken to another post on the app!! - The app is NOT user friendly - period!!! If you run into a problem, such as the one I mentioned above, it is VERY difficult, if not impossible to access Help much less contact your neighborhood “lead”. ONE, AND ONLY ONE TIME, have I ever have been able access Help and actually get a response from the Lead. The response was of no help whatsoever! I actually wrote a post asking if anyone else was having the same issue I mentioned above, getting access to posts, and I said that I was frustrated trying to access help. A neighbor responded telling me how to access it, and guess what? What apparently has worked for her wouldn’t work for me… even after 3 tries, then closing the app and reopening it and trying again AND turning my phone off completely and trying it again once my press back on! - The app is set up similar to Facebook in that someone can write an initial post and others can respond with emojis or a reply. And, like Facebook, people can reply to other replies. But, frustratingly different from Facebook, the NextDoor app is NOT programmed so that replies are listed under the post they are replying to! Giving an example would be way too long, but let it suffice to say that trying to read and make sense of a lengthy thread can be VERY CONFUSING!!! Overall, if you can put up with the “glitches” in the programming, there are a lot of positives that come from using and following the NextDoor app, but there’s definitely room for a lot of improvement.
