Still insecure… – Smart Home Manager Review
I have been in pursuit of one goal for the last 12 months. Securing a new 1GB router from AT&T.
It took 10 months just to get an up to date router here in TX…
Evidently AT&T allows multiple hacked versions of this app. I have seen several versions myself…
Even though I accepted the terms of the app and only have one copy on my network…
My device names, group settings, passwords, & groups are still available to anyone.
Unauthorized modifications including opening the game ports just magically appear.
The password is conveniently displayed and can even be “shared” with anyone with a copy of the app.
I have to question the wisdom if this if security is desired.
Attempts to get local help always results in a transfer to Direct TV even though I use U-Verse.
Perhaps it is bugs, bad designs, or simply local “support”.
Perhaps my only alternative is to find a new ISP.
Speed without security is a very poor trade off indeed!
