Pleasantly surprised – MIDI Guitar Review

I've been using a Roland midi guitar system for more than 10 years, so I've got some experience in this area. I tested this on an ipad1 which isn't fully supported, but it worked quite well. I was able to cleanly trigger sounds in the iOS version of GarageBand. Single notes and chords played equally well. I also set up a midi over wifi system between the ipad and my Mac and was able to trigger all kinds of soft synths without any problems. Tracking was great and very smooth, other than the beta timeouts. My only gripe is with the pricing for the full version. I think they're missing the mark here. By pricing it at $20 you're only going to attract a small customer base of guitarists who would have a real 'need' for this kind of tool. If it were priced at the normal app price of $1-$3 or so, you'd get an order of magnitude more people willing to buy it just to have as something to fool around with. After all GarageBand itself is only five bucks. Hopefully they'll rethink their approach here. But they've done some great work here, regardless.
