Pressed for Micro-transactions – Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow Review

I’ll try to leave this short with three numbered points. Since Matt Groening owns the Simpson’s and Futurama, I thought I’d try this out after playing the Simpson’s tapped out since this should be a similar version but Futurama. Wrong. Here’s why I DON’T recommend playing. [1.] For comparison: In the Simpson’s tapped out, you can place as many buildings as you want as long as you have in game funds. Here, you get one free X-1 bot to build one thing at a time. The only way to get more X-1 bots to build more at a time is spending $5 USD. Okay... gets worse. [2.] To unlock characters, you need to do character missions/tasks. Each task has a chance at spawning the item. For example, Fry had to clean the ship (1min) to get a chance at a barrel to unlock a mission costume. I had to do it 3 times until the item would spawn. But if you think that’s not bad, wait till they give you a 10-12 hour mission and it doesn’t spawn and you must wait 2-3 days. Pretty lame concept. I could see guarantee drops for tasks but chances are poor design especially if the tasks get longer and they do. [3.] This one made me say I’m done. So it’s kinda cool they added RPG elements. You can go on planet express missions and choose which players go for each mission. Level them up and even fight on a stage like paper Mario or Pokémon. It’s kinda neat. But when crew members get injured, they don’t heal. You need to find medkits to heal and they never really spawn.. but you can buy one for a few US dollars! And if you don’t, basically when your character gets KO’ed, you either spend money to revive or hope you find a revive kit or you can’t use them anymore. If they had an option you could spend in game money (Nixon bucks) to get medkits, it would be way more fair. Hence the title, pressed for micro transactions. In conclusion, this game is playable without money, but you’ll get frustrated quickly since it hard depends on it. The Simpson’s tapped out or even the family guy version would be better than this and I loved Futurama. Simpson’s tapped out never required funds and let me have way more freedom. I’ve spent a few $5 on there rarely but it’s because I know the quality of the game is good and I’m more encouraged to. I say all this hoping the developers would learn from the design of their alternate game and hopefully restructure this. Hope this helps all.
