LOVE Futurama, DESPISE this game – Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow Review

Start with 5 stars because it’s Futurama - the world, the characters, references to storylines, actual audio clips (“I can eat a hot dog under water!”). Then deduct a star because the game crashes a lot. No exaggeration, it crashes at least once per session 9 out of 10 times I play. Then deduct a star because it’s glitchy. Most of the time when I try to slide around the map, instead I drag a character to relocate him on the map. I *need* to move around the map to collect things; I *never* need to relocate a character for any reason. Then deduct a star because the programmers apparently have no cohesive plan in mind for how to operate a game. I had the artifact to unlock Zoidberg’s area for *months* before the programmers finally allowed it to be used. Special events have multiple sets of things to collect and assignments to complete, seemingly with no connection between them and almost never enough time to complete them all. Then deduct a star because the mechanism to get bonus premium currency (pizza) is glitchy. Periodically, you’re giving the chance to watch commercials to get extra pizza, but often the game freezes before, during, or after the commercial plays, and you don’t get anything. Then deduct every star the people responsible for this mess have ever received in their lives for the utter stupidity of the character-advancement mechanism. You use career chips and Nixonbucks to get to level 30; after that, you need badges to promote your characters above level 30. However, to collect enough of the right badges, you need to complete missions that almost always require characters advanced beyond level 30 - so you need to be past level 30 to get past level 30! Playing this game is like listening to a 6yo explain Pokémon: after investing the first two hours trying to follow along, you just start praying for an aneurysm or a fire to extricate you from the nightmare. I will finish the process of unlocking Zoidberg, and then I may never come back. This game is a huge disappointment, and an ugly stain on the memory of an outstanding show.
