No protection for up charges – Priceline - Hotel, Car, Flight Review

I was charged $174 by Thrifty for returning a car a day late. I actually returned it two hours early so I could catch my plane on time. I asked Priceline if they could help resolve the problem. Priceline said I’d have to work it out with Thrifty. Why go through Priceline if their is no customer protection for the services they’re providing. You’re better off spending the extra $50 Priceline saves you and work directly with the airline or car rental company.
