Ads pop up on map screen while driving – Google Maps Review

Not sure if I didn't see in the past, but a recent update occurred for me where ads for businesses appear on the map while I'm driving. This is unfortunately a distracting and intrusive update. It was fine when ads appeared while exploring (ie: not driving, but rather perusing the map while stationary), but I don't think I can concede on this. Billboards can be ignored as they're placed on the side of the road, but additional text for extraneous businesses appearing on something I use to help navigate me to my location is disconcerting. Sadly, you can't disable the ads popping up live on the map. You can only adjust whether they're personalized to your interests. I felt pretty loyal to Google Maps for years, but this is poor ad placement. If Google really feels the need to generate more ad revenue than they already do, I would consider placing the ads in a location on the app where users have the free time to give those ads more attention, and not while they're concentrating on tasks that could mean life or death for themselves and their passengers.
