Buggy, broken, and has a horrible new UI – DISH Anywhere Review

DISH recently foisted this steaming pile onto the App Store, replacing the far-better, but still buggy, previous version. This new version features an incomprehensible and unintuitive user interface, which appears to have been designed by a group of summer interns with no experience in interface design and usage patterns. Features like the virtual remote are hidden in the menu, text is poorly wrapped, incorrectly sized and kerned, and buttons aren’t arranged in any sort of logical way. Even better, they’ve decided to arbitrarily break the remote access and playback for those of us with external Sling devices. It worked perfectly fine until this garbage was rolled out, presumably in an attempt to force hardware upgrades. DISH has not offered any type of upgrade for us, and expects us to pay for new hardware. We’ve been exploring the raft of streaming devices and services that we have access to, and are just about ready to cancel our DISH service altogether.
