Outdated – Message+ Review

Unfortunately I’m having an issue receiving group text messages with Android users, and this is the only somewhat reliable way to receive them until Apple fixes the bug. Cosmetically this app needs revamped. They need to support dark mode, because the bright white backgrounds you’re greeted with are awful in you’re in dark mode. Sure you can change the background colors, but it doesn’t adjust the text or settings pages, so it’s just a band-aid, and not a good one. It also looks the same as it did when it was released, which judging by the style, it appears to be 10 years ago. Functionally this app (for obvious reasons) only works with non-iMessage messages, which is fine. However it doesn’t always display a name in the notifications (even if they’re in your contacts), and only shows a preview about half of the time. There’s no consistency in it either, it’s a coin toss really, you don’t always know what you’re going to get. Overall this app has its benefits, especially if you’re having issues receiving text messages, or you’re going to be away from cellular service, but have WiFi. Aside from those two reasons, I wouldn’t recommend using this, especially not in its current state. It’s in desperate need of an overhaul, and I wouldn’t hold your breath on that ever happening.
