Needs serious bug fixes – Chess ∙ Review

Who doesn’t love a great game of chess! Have loved this app for the ease of a quick pick up chess game. But after playing for months, a few bugs have started occurring and there’s no remedy to them provided.... Playing against a computer and all of the sudden, the computer can skip its turn, so I go, then must go again? Or there are times when it’s the computer’s turn and randomly, one of my pieces will disappear from the map, without the computer having moved at all. Not to mention the fact that there was no piece the computer could have used to remove the piece of mine that disappeared. A third issue, not super often but it does happen, simply put there are moves the computer makes that are illegal in chess. Like a knight moving diagonally across the board, like a bishop? I assume in development, somehow the role of the bishop was accidentally assigned to the knight and somehow occasionally is able to accomplish this move? It’d be great to have this issue remedied. In addition to those bug fixes to make the game fully operational and within the rules of chess, from an experiential standpoint, this game is frustrating.... Regardless of the level you set the computer to, there are moves that you can make against the computer which it will never miss, which need to be changed within the algorithm or programming for the computer’s skill. As an example, a pin on a computer’s piece is literally impossible to have happen, even at the easiest level. While a more advanced computer setting does allow for the computer to foresee the setting up for a fork or discover check, that makes sense. But something as simple as a pin should allow some margin of error on the computer’s level, based on the difficulty setting, but it doesn’t, making it frustrating how non-human like the AI is.
