Most chess games have u pay for useless stuff and I am happy this game doesn’t (except for no ads) the reason I am writing a review is because sometimes in single player its a checkmate and it still says I can move somewhere, also there is stalemate and I am ok with that but only for the computer and not for you.

Laughable how you can eliminate all opposition but the King AND have five Queens on the board and it’s a Stalemate! Still fun -but when you have the win - you want the win.

Ads are annoying

The ads are WAY too long, restart if you answer a call or text, and half the time the x button on the ad doesn’t even close the ad.

Software has some bugs. Wrong calls for stalemate. Doesn’t keep a running track of score. Hoping for more options on paid version, but only ads are dropped.

my only major complaint with this game is that sometimes it’ll call a stalemate when it is definitely a checkmate. it happens a lot, actually. i’ll put the opposing king in a position where he can’t move without putting himself in check, while i have the liberty to move and avoid check. (which is checkmate), and the game will tell me “draw by stalemate”. very annoying. also, i don’t know how to make “rooking” happen. the AI will do it, but i never have the ability to do so — and will sometimes have to restart the game because rooking is the only way to save my king — and the game won’t checkmate it. this game has been around since the first or second iphone, so i have some nostalgia for it — and would like these bugs to be fixed.

I opened this app and got an obscene ad. Will be deleting. As someone who worked in ad tech for years, my advice to you is to tell your SSP to get their ad quality rules straightened out, quickly.

I got an “adult” ad with full on nudity and people going at it. Not even a cartoon, like the real deal. It was out of nowhere, in the middle of my chess game. Don’t let your kid download this app.

Awful cheating battery drain

Besides it tanking a full battery (you can disable all of its data access and fix this) the computer cheats. If you start winning, pieces will literally disappear. Two moves from checkmate? My queen disappeared. Hit undo and yes, the computer moved nothing yet my queen is gone. Different game, a few moves from basic castle line checkmate, castle disappears after I move a pawn. No pieces moved for the AI. It’s also prevented me from moving my king, and it’s not like I’m missing some line of check or suddenly forgetting as when I hit undo sure enough no pieces move. 1star
