Downhill since v2 – Panels - Comic Reader Review

I’ve been using Panels (pro version) for the past year and it was the best comic reader I’d used on both iOS and Android. To me, it was always a 5 star app. The 2.0 update, unfortunately, changed that. Prior to this update, everything was easily navigatable from one page, but now things are spread out over multiple pages. The new Reading Now page shows tons of stuff that are no longer on the iPad, even with the setting toggled. There’s no way to make the library the default page or revert back to the previous UI. Since I paid for the app, I won’t be switching, but beware that it’s become bloated, more complicated, and not as enjoyable to use. UPDATE: The team fixed the Reading Now page bug, which is great. Unfortunately, it’s still a case of unnecessary changes to a perfectly good app. It was so much more convenient having one page with the current comics being read at the top and the library below. Adding extra pages just means more steps to navigate the library. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. UPDATE 2: Literally every update since v2 has been full of bugs. First it was, reading now page issues, then import problems, then crashing during rotation, and now, the pages load in whacky sizes seemingly at random. Seriously, how did one of the slickest and best comic apps of all time go downhill so fast.
