Dying company, abysmal support – Wink - Smart Home Review

After buying the GE/Wink AC a few years ago, I was thrilled with the product. I understand that it’s a GE product, but when they switched to a subscription model it was noted that it would not be able to have the robots or cloud based system work without subscribing. That’s ok... I can use it in network, not use any cloud data, and use the app as a remote while on the same WiFi network, right? Nope. They bricked any ability to use the app to control the unit. When I asked support why, I was given a runaround about cloud data, etc... but it’s all within network. What a crap move. Cheap toys from China will connect via WiFi, but not my expensive AC! If that’s the level of support they give, I don’t expect them to last much longer. I get that it’s older and not upgradable to use with Home Kit, Alexa, etc... but to extort people to be able to use their app in my own network for something as small and simple as a remote control is crap.
