This is not what you’d expect, but it’s very promising! – World's End Club Review

Don’t want to say much, since I don’t want to spoil exact details, but warning here just in case. Suggest playing the prologue before reading this. I have yet to finish the game, and I may return to edit this. This isn’t a death game like danganronpa or zero escape. It seems this is more of a prequel, and the “full” game will be released on switch and will have a much darker tone, and might even go back to the original “death march club” title. It gives the same vibes as the danganronpa IF and “no killing game” modes of the series, where everything is fine. I have not played the zero escape series yet, but the prologue is VERY inspired after the series it seems. It made me feel very nostalgic for the danganronpa series, almost like I was returning home lol Gameplay after the prologue,,,, well,,,, sorta A mess. These types of games definitely hinge on the setting and storyline, but once the high stakes are removed after the prologue and the “road trip” begins, the game ends up being this: Walk, jump up a ledge, time for a small cutscene! Oh use this ability, then it’s a cutscene! Move this box, jump up, you solved what could barely be considered a puzzle! Cutscene time! I love visual novels. I’m fine with cutscenes. But the “platforming” part of the game.... really isn’t a good combo. I felt like it worked in the prologue, but afterwards it was a train wreck. Why four stars then? Well, as previously stated, it’s been said by the creators that this is not the full game. I think this could be considered a really cool demo/prologue/alternate story. It’s introducing its characters, giving them backstories and personality, and I think if the full game on switch does turn out to be a traditional killing game, this could give so much more meaning to each death, especially the early ones! That’s a huge deal imo, especially since the first deaths in danganronpa games tend to mean the least since you haven’t gotten attached to the characters (V3 did much better in this regard,,, what a masterpiece.) I think the best way to describe this game right now is chapter one of deltarune. A little teaser of what’s to come! Once the “full” game comes out, only then can I give my entire opinion on worlds end club. This could be considered a masterpiece when the time comes, or I could see this as a disastrous, disappointing publicity stunt. I’m giving this four stars, because overall I’ve gotten attached to the characters and it would be unfair to poorly rate a game that hasn’t had its whole story told.. This game should definitely be given a chance! Also the Apple Arcade timed exclusive situation definitely had an impact on the game haha. It’s really toned down and I expect the full switch game to be much darker, but I could definitely be wrong!
