Ridiculous privacy overreach – Lionsgate VIP Review

Studios need to understand that punishing the people who buy their products is counterproductive. First, they put warnings and unskippable trailers, now they require you to install an app and try to trick you into giving location access and your email address (you don’t need to do either). There was nothing wrong with just giving a written code; those worked fine. The more irritation that is introduced to punish paying customers, the more people will seek frictionless ways of enjoying the movies they want to watch. The user experience of watching a movie on YouTube is currently better than what studios are shoving down the throats of paying customers. We like your movies: we paid money to encourage their production, to be able to put them on our shelves, and add them to our digital libraries. You need to appreciate that and encourage it, not punish us.
