Phenomenal Gaming Experience – A Dark Room Review

I don’t even know why I first downloaded this game, but I did on my iPhone 4 and it was game changing. It was an RPG that left so much up to the imagination that the visions were endless. The first time I played through this game I built huts and took people and tried to build our village up together. I went out and tried to gather materials to get us further and keep us safe. It absolutely threw me when the builder called me a murderer. It was even worse when she told me my people were slaves. Up until that point I hadn’t considered I was over working them, but rather we were doing this together. I kept going regardless tho because I wanted to see the end of the game. I wanted to help her, but she wasn’t happy with how I was getting us out. Now I replayed this game a couple days ago on my iPhone 11 because the completed game didn’t transfer over so I wanted to beat it again and in the back of my mind was “complete the game without huts” it seemed important for me to remember so I did it. It was slow going, but it was intimate. The relationship the builder and I shared felt different. She was sweet and when she would pass out I would worry about her. I died a lot and didn’t get materials as quickly, but everything I did I was proud of working for her. We got off the planet safely after about 2.5 hours and I felt really good about the play through. It was unique from the first, but shared the same nostalgic game play as my precious play through years before. It’s also my favorite thing that when you complete the game you get developer secrets into the planning of this game. It’s just such a great way to understand what goes into a game you love so like A+ feature for sure I definitely enjoy listening to them over and over. If you’re looking for a unique gaming experience with characters and story you can connect to emotionally while viewing them as code, text and icons this is DEFINITELY the game for you! Highly recommended 10/10 have not stopped talking about it.
