Has potential but a lackluster start – Realm of Alters - CCG Review

The gameplay is pretty standard in comparison to other card games. The art is very nice looking and the animations are really smooth. There are a lot of issues with the game, probably because it’s still new. Problem one is the disconnects which can be frustrating if you’ve already put in 10-15 minutes of your time. The second problem is the paywall. They only start you off with 2 of the possible 5 types of cards. You would need to win a lot of matches to get packs just to build another type of deck. The other 3 types of cards are also significantly better than your initial 2 types. This results in a lot of matches using the same deck while hoping your opponent didn’t spend $50+ on packs. Basically, it’s bad for F2P. You also only receive 5 cards from packs when your deck size is 40 cards. Don’t expect to build a new deck without a lot of time and money investments. The third problem is the lack of clarifications on card mechanics. They have a google doc which tells you the basics but not the specific. What does insight do? What about mana-charge? You’ll have to learn what each card does with trials and error. Overall, the game is off to a shaky start. Hopefully the devs make improvements soon and realize that they should be more generous and helpful to new players rather than locking them into 2 out of the 5 character classes with unclear guidance on card mechanics.
