Just make the ranking fair – Magic: Puzzle Quest Review

I love the game. It is amazing in so many ways. I would easily recommend this to those who like card games and those who like puzzle quest games. It does the magic the gathering an honor in bridging that gap. My only disappointment and why I struggle to stay on is the ranking system. It is simple, you play card in a match, at the end you gain points on it until it is "mastered". Enough mastered cards of a certain color moves you up a rank. The idea is that going up a rank is better rewards. There is one large problem that I doubt the devs considered. That those who play a variety of cards, especially common, will rank up faster into brackets of other players who are pulling out decks of mystic and rates only while they only have the starting common cards. They literally can't win a match because of how one sided it is. I have seen countless requests for the devs to change or adjust the ranking system as it clearly is not favorable for progressing. In fact on all the tip and help sites they explicitly warn you to NOT rank up beyond bronze when that is the starting rank for the main reason that you will be placed with players that you can't compete against. I will give one idea, maybe adjust the ranking system so those that win a lot or have a higher mystic and rare count get placed together more often. Those who struggle or play with lower tier cards go against each other. Also see if you can place people with planewalkers that have close lvl limits. It is sooo annoying to be fighting lvl 60 players with a lvl 8 or 9 character. Their health is 150 and mine is 35. I don't see the fairness in that either. Anyways, like I said there have been countless other reviews that cover the same issue and with various solutions.
