Given Hope – Magic: Puzzle Quest Review

Let’s get straight to the point. I’ve loved Magic from the day it came out. Then when I found out the Magic the Gathering was coming out with a Match 3 puzzle game, I was excited! I’ve probably spent a few hundred on the game, and it wasn’t enough..... In the early days of this game, there was so much promise, and so much failure. The customer service was horrible, the engine ran like a beat up Dodge pickup truck, and certain cards would almost single handily when most matches......then came the fixes. Customer support got better, the game seemed to start balancing out, and the PvP (Automated) seemed to be rewarding. You were playing against other decks that would make you think, in order to win. He game was FINALLY going in the right direction......but they had to mess it up. Back are the days of a few cards will just destroy your deck. No matter what you do, you’ll lose FAR more then you’ll ever win. Why? They just want your money. Spend money, get more chance to play against decks that will flat out rip your to shreds. Skill? Deck building? All out the door. Want a Mythic card? You’ll need about $100 in currency to get ONE single CARD. What have I received for a few hundred invested in the game? Nothing. No over powered cards, no cards to make a deck that has at least a 50% win ratio, nothing. How can I get a better chance at winning? Not by skill and deck building, but by spending a fortune to get a few simple dominating cards. OH let me not forget, even when you finally get some awesome card, they will need it to the ground at some point. Then your going to be out a few hundred more bucks, just to get an even win loss ratio. All in all, skip this game at all cost. When you lose 7 matches in a row, because you went up against decks that have the SAME dominating card, on DIFFERENT players, that’s the developers way of saying “Hey, you almost won, but your going to need to spend more money for another chance at playing against an overpowered deck. God forbid you play against decks that are evenly matched. There is no skill in this game. Just a MASSIVE money trap, without a care in the world about fun game play. Pull out your wallet, your going to need it.....
