Masterpiece? – Witch & Wizard Review

Witch and Wizard is very fast-paced, action-packed, and it is able to keep your attention. HOWEVER, I was extremely disappointed after reading the first book---especially after seeing all the good reviews! The characters were completely unrealistic and had irrational responses to what was taking place in the story. I was disgusted with how stupid the narrators appeared. "You're a wizard." "Wow, why'd my mom give me a drumstick to take to jail with me?" "Oh yeah ...because, you know, for no apparent reason everyone's allowed to take an item of their choice to jail with them..." "Oh hey, just one second officer! Let me grab my gun..." Frankly, the characters were as dull as dirt. Patterson's attempts at "humor" and "wit" fell flat on their unclever faces. The fluffy light-hearted attitudes of Whit and Icantevenrememberhername contrast the serious nature of their situation. If you're looking for some depth and a good read try...something else.
