In my case I identified a few older appliances that were like energy vampires, consistently inflating my monthly bill. Biggest change for me was replacing the old fridge in the garage. If you really want to increase the experience smart plugs not only allow you to control things remotely but provide independent energy metering with precision not available utilizing software based algorithms. DTE offers a lot of great rebate programs to help you save on new appliances once you have identified where your home could be more efficient. In my case I can honestly say my average monthly usage is down ~25% year over year which for me translates to about $450/yr because of the actions I’ve taken that the app helped me identify.
