Frustrating and Mean – SPAR! - Do it together Review

After 6 months of not using the app, a friends convinced me to come back and try again. The first challenge the app recommends to to me is a popular $50 penalty fitness challenge. I sign up thinking this will really motivate me. After it starts, the owner comes into the challenge’s chat and says it’s predatory because 82% of the people in it are new and we’re just here to take advantage of them, so anyone can quit at anytime with no penalty. After I tell him I’ve signed up for the extra incentive and this isn’t a great experience, and maybe in the future they should limit stakes for new users. I ask to be removed so I can delete the app. The founder Kyle calls me a gold digger and says he’s going to ban me. My net balance on this app is negative. I’ve lost more than I’ve won. Because I used the app to try to do difficult things. I didn’t invite new users to the challenge. I didn’t know 82% of the challengers were new. You did this Kyle. I get that companies and startups make mistakes, and it’s possible you have predatory members and that’s something you need to monitor. But don’t call your customers names in a group chat, there’s no need for it. Just cancel the challenge, own up to your mistake, and make the app work the way you intended it to. Figure out how to track predatory behavior, deal with it on an individual basis. Don’t be a jerk.
