Lacks many advertised features – Fossil Smartwatches Review

My Hybrid watch works great. This app works for what it has - which isn’t much. It needs improvement in the area of usefulness. Biggest problem 1: there is an incredibly limited number of apps that can be set within the app for Hybrid watch notifications. You can only have your watch notify you of apps on a preset list that is 55 strong - 55 relatively obscure apps (some of which are no longer apps, like Google Inbox). This excludes many basic apps, such as Reminders and Clocks. I’m not sure anyone on a normal schedule gets more AirBnB notifications than Reminders notifications. What an effective way to handicap the usefulness of the Hybrid watch. Biggest problem 2: beyond the ridiculously stunted app support, contact notifications come with their own problems. You will not receive notifications for contacts with nicknames or emojis in their contact name. You can fix the nickname problem by disabling the “prefer nickname” feature, but that of course would make nicknames completely obsolete on a phone anyway. This means that although my phone has my wife’s full name in it, because she had a nickname I will not get notifications on my Hybrid watch from her. Or my parents. Or any of my close friends. I can only receive notifications from such contacts using the generic notification option - so much for useful contact notifications. I appreciate the developers who work on this app and imagine that they must be working hard, but this app brings little usefulness to my watch or my life. These are basic problems that need solutions. I’m so glad I can get watch notifications for Shazam and Venmo and Square Cash, but apps like Ring and Reminders and Health would be so much more practical. Hybrid watch value is held back by these problems.
