Wish I could rate it higher – Write On Review

I purchased this for my my daughter so she could practice writing her name. Her name is nine letters, but the practice only allows for eight letters max to be input. I wish the developers would have made this known in their description. There is also no means for her to know if her writing is acceptable or illegible. Practice without constructive feedback is a weak form of instruction and is one of the reasons some teachers (and some parents for that matter) are ineffective in K-12 and in post-secondary education. Some of the educational children's apps for the iPad provide intelligently thoughtful feedback. This app gives no feedback at all. Nonetheless, my daughter finds it entertaining, so I believe she will benefit somehow from this app, especially since I am always with her when she is practicing and can give her individualized feedback myself. It's not a poorly designed app, but it's certainly not one I would recommend without reservations. If there were a lite version, parents might better be able to decide if this app would be helpful to their children. I would also recommend having your child use an iPad-safe stylus (especially if your school district is foolishly abandoning the teaching of penmanship in class).
