Updated review! Problem Solved. – MOTIV Audio Review

I’ve had this Mic (Mv88) and supporting app for quite some time and I have to tell you it was very frustrating because all I was hearing was buzzing and clicking, bzbzbzbzbzb click click click bzbzbzbzbtttt on my recordings. It was really annoying and I wanted the mic to work so badly. I kept trying everything I could. I’ve seen posts from other people on different forums and suggestions from Shure stating that it was necessary to turn the phone on to “airplane mode” in order for it to work and not get interference. I was doing that and I was wondering why I was continuing to have a problem where buzzing and clicking would appear on my recordings. I thought Shure was dropping the ball. I am here to apologize and state that they didn’t drop the ball I believe it was Apple that dropped the ball. What happened was, around iOS update 11, Apple change the way airplane mode turns on and turns off your data. Such as Wi-Fi, data, and Bluetooth, now when you press the airplane mode button it may not actually turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as well. So you have to check this out. Make sure that they actually are off. Once I found this out I retested the mic and the apps for the mic and I have to say it sounds fantastic. I still have some issues with the Mike design in that it’s heavy and sometimes disconnects from the phone. I also think the app doesn’t work the same way in portrait mode as it does in landscape mode. I find that to be a problem. So I’m not giving everything a five star yet. But I’ve upped it from One star to four stars and with apologies. So, again, make sure, if you’re using this app with that microphone (MV88), that you not only turn The airplane mode on, you make sure that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth have been shut off as well.
