Must have tool for coming up with sound ideas! – apeMatrix Review

Do you even need it? But there’s AUM already, or Beat Maker 3, what new does this app bring? You have synths. You have fx apps. You have infinite possibilities of combining them to produce unique interesting sounds. But where do you do these experimentations? BM3 can certainly offer plenty of fx slots to attach different fx to a track and there’s even bus there too. But can you experiment there? Say you have 2 synths that you want to output through different fx and then have outputs of those go through one other fx app and then split that outgoing signal and route it to two different other fx. Make some connections stronger or more subtle (those intersecting circles are all volume controls for those connections). Can this be done in any other app? The flows you create in ApeMatrix, you *might* be able to reproduce in AUM or Beatmaker3, but not as easily/quickly or as efficiently. But most importantly, you already have to have the flow in mind. But even for something as predictable as reverb, various effect combination can make a world of difference and you just never know what you’ll get before hearing it. In ApeMatrix you can really experiment with this sort of thing very quickly as you are actually seeing all connections on single screen that can hold 10 units. You can interconnect these in any way (You actually get 3 such independent screens) You can also modulate a lot of stuff with this, with each control getting its own LFO. If the knob of a synth can be midi mapped - ApeMatrix can modulate it. Great LFOs too, that you can just drag two ends of sliders to select the range (for example move some knob between certain positions) also makes experimenting a breeze! Once you start using LFOs, it really expands the capabilities of the synths. One tip to quickly get started, all connections go from left to top. So whenever you place a dot anywhere, you’ve sent the signal from left icon to the top icon. It’s always like that and there’re no other ways of doing it. If you’re ever confused about connections, this will explain it.
